The library was labeled geek territory. It was a place only nerdy people went in their free time, a place where only the truly smart sat. To Laken Rose Cullens, that was a piece of bologna. She liked to read just as much as the next person, probably even more. Growing, not only was music her escape, but books were as well. Now, she was far more passionate about her music, and still is, but she still enjoys reading every and again.
Walking into the modern library, a feeling of relief came over her. A small smile was on her lips as she walked to the section she wanted; teenage romance novels. None of that smutty stuff that her grandmother read, it was the kind about actual romance and people falling in love. Laken wished for that kind of life, that kind of love, getting swept off her feet like the too perfect characters in the story. It would truly be amazing to have a love like that, just once, even if it didn't last, she thought it'd be worth it. Yes, years of heartache would be worth an amazing memory.
Her flowy white peasant style skirt floated around her knees, it brushing against her skin every so often. It was very flouncy, very a-line. The material was soft, cotton, and moved well in a breeze, when she walked, or when she spun. As Laken walked along the isle of books, her finger tips grazed along the spines, barely taking in the title of the book. She wasn't even to her section yet, how awful. The library was big enough, so it didn't bother her so much because she knew she would be looking forward to a nice selection of books.
Finally reaching her destination, Laken stopped in front of the middle section. She closed her big blue eyes and ran a finger along the spines, stopping a few steps away. Opening her eyes, she grabbed the book, not even bothering to look at the title, and headed off to one of the chairs in the back. As she walked, she observed others studying, like she should be doing, and others just relaxing here around those who studying. They all seemed fairly relaxed, like time meant nothing, and that they weren't cramming for a last minute test.
Reaching her chair, Laken sat down in it, her back straight against the back. Crossing her legs in the proper lady-like way, she set the book on her lap and opened it up to page one. Her big blue eyes scanned across the page, taking in the words, and the story began to unfold in her mind, picturing everything. That was one of the pluses of having a good imagination, she could picture things well. Starting to get enveloped in the story, she shut the world out almost entirely, though she could still hear a few whispered conversations going on around her.
